Overview
The Libya Reconstruction & Development Fund is honored to launch the competitive initiative for the design of the Central Business District (CBD) within the urban framework of Benghazi’s master plan. This district represents a strategic and vital axis in the city’s journey of reconstruction and comprehensive urban development.
The initiative seeks to establish an integrated and sustainable vision that will transform Benghazi into a leading economic, financial, and cultural metropolis — distinguished by the efficiency of its governance, the modernity of its infrastructure, and its capacity to accommodate future growth demands, in a manner befitting the city’s status and rich history. Covering the entirety of Benghazi’s urban area, this ambitious initiative stands as one of the most significant contemporary urban planning projects in Libya.
The winning participants in this competition will be tasked with preparing the comprehensive master plan for the city of Benghazi. The proposal is expected to present a holistic and forward-looking vision, outlining the city’s urban, economic, social, and environmental development over the coming three decades — setting a national benchmark for modern, smart, and culturally attuned urban planning.
